And we were together and we were happy
The days were long and silent and full of dreams.
Sometimes maybe too silent but we were together so it wasn’t so bad.
Not unbearable.
The nights were cool but our bodies were warm and so we didn’t suffer
Because we were together and the house was beautiful.

It didn’t bother us that we were alone there.
The trees in the garden gave us shelter from tears if there were any,
They veiled our grief so that we could be happy.
Even though there were only two of us.
Two was enough.

I've often wondered how people live in isolation, like in the remote areas of Alaska where you only see a float plane once a month bringing supplies to your cabin on a lake. Nothing but your family and nature to comfort you. I don't know if I could do that, as romantic as it sounds. Your poem reminded me of that dream.
